Onchan Library For Children

Children at Library

“So Matilda’s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.”

Roald Dahl

The Library is a great place for families, and opens up a whole new world for children. We've got a fantastic choice of books to capture children's imagination and help them to enjoy their reading. You're never too young to join a library, and we have books for babies, right through to children & teens.

Not sure what to read?

Just ask us for some ideas, help with homework or with finding books. LoveReading has great ideas for children too, and you can find out about every UK children's writer here: Childrens Books

Looking for things to do?

There's always something going on at the library. We have a weekly 'Storytime for Toddlers' as well as children's activities each school holidays. There are displays, competitions and an exciting Summer Reading Challenge to join in too.

How Do I Join?

Easy! Just fill in a joining card at the library, or join online. Children need to have a parent / carer's signature before their membership takes effect. Library membership is FREE for children if you live in Onchan, and only £1.00 per year if you don't.

How Long Can I Keep My Books?

You can take out 4 items, and keep them for up to two weeks. If you need to keep them longer, they can be renewed online, by telephone, or by calling into the library.
